Job Introduction

We're excited to announce a new job opening for a detail-oriented Software Test Analyst to join our team! This is a temporary contract position until January 2025, with the opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of all areas of our software through rigorous testing and identifying any defects or issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software testing methodologies and experience in testing Point of Sale systems. In this role, you'll provide project-testing support for a portfolio of projects, identifying and defining the required tests, monitoring test coverage, and evaluating overall quality. You'll also specify required Test Data and evaluate the outcome of testing conducted in each test cycle.

This position is based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, just off the M1, with free parking and offers a flexible, hybrid way of working. However, all colleagues are required to work in the office for a minimum of 1 to 2 days per week, with the expectation of added attendance when needed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into test scenarios and test scripts. 
  • Perform functional, regression and integration testing on software to identify defects and areas for improvement. 
  • Assist in the development of a high-performing team, alongside the other functional and technical consultants involved in test activities. 
  • Support the Test Lead in identifying requirement, onboarding and managing the performance of test resource. 
  • Act as Deputy for the Test Lead, dealing with escalations and proactively managing relations with the business. 
  • Identify best practice and introduce latest thinking, methodologies and ideas where opportunity presents. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to software systems and testing. 
  • Develop test scenarios, cases, and scripts according to the specific test phases (e.g., System Test, Integration Test, etc.) for multiple application and software solutions. 
  • Develop extensive and detailed knowledge of our systems. 
  • Follow the defined approach and plan for specific test phases/sprints, including test preparation, execution, and closure. 
  • Adhere to the (test) environment management strategy and plan. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in system testing standards and procedures for all testing cycles of system implementation and support. 
  • Experience in ERP. 
  • Experience of end-to-end test phases from scoping through to execution and production of the test completion report. 
  • Experience in test planning and delivery. 
  • Knowledge of Shared Services business processes associated with HR, Finance, Payroll, and Procurement. 
  • Experience in tracking the progress of tasks and activities,and preparing reports and statistics to present that progress. 
  • Experience communicating directly with customers in writing, by telephone, and face to face 
  • Working within a cross-functional team environment, with defined planning and control processes 
  • Hold ISTQB certificate 
  • Prior experience as a test analyst through the full SDLC cycle 
  • Good communication skills with (internal and external) staff at all levels, including listening and providing answers 
  • Ability to identify and manage risks and strong problem-solving skills 
  • Experience in working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Self-organising, able to prioritise own workload and seek input from stakeholders when required 
  • SAP (S4 HANA) Knowledge is an advantage 
  • Retail knowledge (preferred)
