As part of the team reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager, you will support Transformation and IT functions. Your key responsibilities include tracking costs and benefits, managing budgets, and leading monthly cost centre reviews. Success in this role depends on meeting financial targets, proactive risk identification, and support development of strategic business cases.

Your contribution is crucial to our company's growth and transformation, providing financial insights for strategic decisions. Operating on smart working principles, you will split your time between our support centre in Wakefield (2-3 days onsite) and remote work.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track project costs, benefits and KPIs to ensure alignment with financial targets and deliverables
  • Manage cost centre and projects month-end accounts closure through analysis and recommending appropriate accounting treatment and proposing journals to Management Accounts team
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business projects and key stakeholders including profitability assessments, cost-benefit analysis and scenario planning
  • Collaborate across the business teams to develop and validate business cases before submission to Project Approval Committee
  • Communicate financial insights and recommendations to stakeholders to support strategic planning process and resource allocation
  • Support the development of project budgets, forecasts and funding proposals.
  • Create and maintain accurate financial models for projects forecasts, actuals and performance metrics
  • Identify and proactively address project risks related to costs with impact on financial performance
  • Support budgeting and reforecasting processes through collaboration with key stakeholders and preparing, analysing and reporting on financial data

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified / Part-qualified finance professional who is commercially minded
  • Intellectual curiosity to understand the financial and non-financial drivers of the business and their implications
  • Proven and demonstrable ability to build productive business relationships with a wide network of finance and non-finance colleagues, and manage workload according to priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication styles and confidence to influence a variety of senior stakeholders
  • Desire to bring insight and challenge to the business
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and Excel
  • Passionate about being part of a culture where continuous improvement is delivered
  • Proactive and takes pride in output / robustness of financial analysis
  • The tenacity to work through details and deliver rigorous and meaningful insight
